Maine MILL celebrated a remarkable opening weekend June 26-28, 2026, welcoming more than 1,500 visitors through its doors as the community gathered to experience the museum’s new home at 1 Beech Street.

The weekend featured a the museum’s annual Soiree en Blanc event, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, family activities, and the opportunity for visitors to explore the museum’s permanent collection, which tell the stories of Maine’s workers, innovators, and communities, as well as the inaugural rotating exhibition, A Common Bond: The Brick Journal.

“The response from the community has been incredible,” said Rachel Ferrante, Executive Director of Maine MILL. “After years of planning, fundraising, and collaboration, it was so special to see people filling the galleries, sharing stories, and making connections. This museum belongs to our community, and opening weekend was a wonderful reminder of why we built it.”

Maine MILL extends its gratitude to the thousands of donors, volunteers, partners, contractors, elected officials, and community members whose support made the museum possible.

The museum is now open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can explore interactive exhibitions, participate in educational programs, and experience a new destination dedicated to Maine’s history of innovation, labor, and community.
