Peck’s Department Store was founded in 1880 by Bradford Peck. Originally located on the Music Hall block of Lisbon Street in Lewiston, in 1886 it moved to the Sands Block and in 1899 moved to the corners of Main Street and Lisbon Street, where it occupied all five floors. The building was known for the terra cotta arch at the entrance and display windows along both sides. Inside was mosaic tiling, a passenger elevator, a pneumatic tube carrying system, and modern fire protection. Peck’s was especially well known for their Christmas decorations and for hosting the only Santa Claus in the area. Peck’s closed in 1982 due to competition from modern shopping malls and the building housed the L.L. Bean call center for many years.

This canvas tote bag was created and handed out to celebrate their 100th anniversary in 1980.
