Lewiston, ME — On March 10 at 6pm, Maine MILL hosted Mike Rancourt of Rancourt & Co to discuss the creation of the footwear worn by Team USA at the Olympics. Rancourt & Co are the crafters of boots for three US Olympic teams, most recently the opening and closing ceremony boots for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic games. Working with global brand Ralph Lauren from concept to creation, Rancourt & Co. continues the long tradition of fine shoe making in the region.
A discussion of the process and production was followed by time for an open question and answer session. One lucky in-person attendee was chosen to have a pair of Team USA boots custom crafted by Rancourt & Co., not available for retail sale.
The evening is the first in the “Made In Maine” series offered by Maine MILL. “Made in Maine” will spotlight businesses making an impact locally, regionally, nationally and globally that continue the long tradition of exceptional craftsmanship and industry in our region.
