Ray D'Amour

Ray D’Amour was born in Lewiston, Maine, after his parents migrated from Canada. He explains in this interview that from Lewiston he moved to Auburn, which is where he lived until he married in 1951. His mother did not work, but his father worked in the shoe industry all his life. D’Amour goes on to talk about the Depression, and the impacts it had on him and his family, which he remembers well as he was a teenager at the time. He explains his experience being drafted, working with design, and working in the mills through many detailed stories.
