Ralph Metayer

Ralph Metayer started work at 15 for the Dennis Brickyard that was a five minute walk away from his home. He jumps right into explaining the brickmaking process, detailing the kiln process specifically. He goes into a lot of detail about the kilns such as the way they were constructed and operated. He also explains what his position entailed as a sandboy, where he would work to ensure there was always dry sand available for the bricks. Ralph also shares some stories about the lumberjacks who would work for the brickyard in the summers.
