John Allard

https://mainemill.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Allard_John_SW.mp3

John Allard started in the shoe industry at the age of 15, swapping locations here and there. He then worked at Falcon Shoe for about four times, coming back several times after either being fired or quitting. He was a shoe cutter and also a leather assessor. He shares a few stories about the town back then in the 1960s, as well as the way the shoe industry changed over the 1980s. John also explains the shoe cutting process, as well as what it entails to be a leather assessor.
