Anthony Shostak
The youngest of ten, Anthony Shostak talks about growing up here in Lewiston. He remembers going down to the library, and to the Bates Pond to go find crayfish and frogs. The alderman or the police would come by whenever they got too reckless. The summer after graduating high school he worked as a brick stripper at the Moore-Lachance Brickyard, where he describes both the conditions of the work as well as the types of labor involved there. Afterwards, he found work as an electrician while attending art school in Philadelphia. He has been working at Bates for about fifteen years now, ending the interview telling a story about the High Style Catering Truck, which he still remembers the way all the brick workers would yell out High Style as the truck arrived. He still points out its location every time he drives by!
